Both Dirt and Carpet edition of the XB2 are both designed specifically for the different track conditions and extensively tested in all the different tracks to ensure maximum performance right out of the box.

The XB2D was long time tested at slippery track at Hudy Arena and at various dusty European tracks till high traction tracks in USA.

The XB2C was extensively tested at the carpet track at Hudy Arena and during the whole EOS race series season at various tracks around the Europe. The Carpet edition was at the same time tested at various Astro tracks.

Precision.

Designed in virtual reality using the world's most sophisticated CAD tools, and manufactured using the world's best machining and molding machinery, the XB2 achieves a level of premium perfection in all details that is second to none.

Fully Adaptive Steering System.

The XB2 steering system was redesigned for both high traction and low traction conditions. The Fully Adaptive Steering System has many new parts including the steering arms, steering plate, servo horns, steering linkage, and pivot balls. The same components are included in both Carpet & Dirt Editions but allow different build configurations to alter the geometry depending on the track’s conditions. Smart & easy.

Fully Adaptive Steering System.

The Fully Adaptive Steering System allows easy changes to the steering assembly that transform the geometry and alter the handling characteristics of the XB2. No extra parts are required as all parts are in the kit.

Configuration for low traction conditions:

  • Steering plate oriented frontwards
  • Linkage installed rearwards
  • Servo link mounted on steering plate

With this configuration the outside wheel turns less which provides less steering and makes the car easier to drive.

Configuration for high traction conditions:

  • Steering plate oriented rearwards
  • Linkage installed frontwards
  • Servo link mounted on left steering arm

With this configuration the outside wheel turns more which increases more steering and makes the car more aggressive.

Steering Blocks.

The Carpet Edition now features the new 3 slots steering block extensions better suited for high traction conditions. These extensions allow the wheels to turn more and provide more steering in corners. The overall travel was increased so the car has more steering in tight corners.

The Dirt Edition includes the 2 slots steering block extensions more suitable for lower traction conditions.

The composite blocks are molded from a special composite mixture for maximum strength.

Front Roll Center Holder.

The wider front roll center holder was updated with an additional outer position that is especially suited for high speed tracks where less front end dive is required.

The design of the roll center holder was also updated for mounting the optional front anti-roll bar directly on the holder.

The front roll center holder is universal for both Carpet and Dirt Editions.

Anti-Roll Bars.

In specific track conditions when the front or rear of the car need more stabilization, an optional anti-roll bar (#322400 or #323400) can be easily installed. The anti-roll bar is mounted to the front/rear roll center holder and can be adjusted via the included linkages.

Anti-roll bar wires of different thicknesses are available for fine-tuning with the wire thickness laser-engraved on each bar for easy identification.

Shock Towers.

New front and rear shock towers feature denser upper shock mount positions for precise set-up adjustments.

The front shock tower features a wing mount provision and the rear tower features three different wing mounting positions for added adjustment.

Front & rear shock towers are machined from premium-grade graphite that is lightweight & strong, with multiple shock and roll center adjustment positions.

The shock towers are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Shocks.

The front shock absorber bodies and shock shafts are longer by 2mm to maintain the correct down travel with the new tower. Combined with the new shock towers and suspension geometry, these changes increase steering and improve jump landing.

The big-bore shocks are membrane free, but still allow for easy, consistent building and rebound control using the bleed-screw shock cap design.

The aluminum body and lower cap are all machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum.

The shock shafts are machined from special steel material, precision hand-ground for maximum smooth operation, and additionally hardened for an increased lifespan.

High Traction Body.

The XB2C’21 and XB2D’21 each feature a new XRAY Gamma body specifically designed with super-smooth airflow and revised downforce characteristics fine-tuned for their intended conditions.

The carpet version of the all-new body, the Gamma 2C, is designed especially for high traction conditions and improves the stability in fast corners, chicanes and helps with rotation in tight corners.

The Gamma Carpet body is also available in lightweight version

Low Traction Body.

The dirt version of the new XB2 body, the Gamma 2D, is designed for low traction conditions. The new profile improves the stability and increases downforce towards the rear of the vehicle to help generate more traction for the car.

The Gamma 2D body is also available in lightweight version.

Wings.

The Carpet and Dirt Editions of the XB2 each feature a different wing paired to work with their particular body. Made from strong Lexan™ material, the wing is supported on the wing mounts by extended flat shims to better support and extend the life of the wing.

Various wing designs in different thickness are available separately to alter downforce and handling. The thicker wing gives higher traction and stability but gives reduced steering.

Wheels.

The included wheels are IFMAR standardized with the new wheel hex offset. The wheels feature a redesigned countersunk center area to allow the wheel nut to sit deeper in the wheel.

The wheels are perfect for high-competition racing. They feature internal reinforcement ribs to provide stability and resist deformation, yet they are made from a flexible material to provide durability and withstand impacts.

The side of the wheel is aerodynamic for maximum performance. The wheels were designed to provide maximum traction.

The wheels feature a 12mm internal hex.

XRAY Instruction Manual.

XRAY Instruction Manuals have become the industry standard, being simply the best manuals included with an RC model car. Whether you are a first-time builder or an experienced racer, all instructions are straight-forward and easy to understand. The full-color instruction manual contains large 3D illustrations that show all assembly details in the clearest possible way:

Chassis.

The chassis features bent sides for improved weight balance and increased traction with maximum stability of the car. The rear part of the chassis is narrow.

After extensive testing of 25 different chassis designs, the final concept was selected for its flex characteristics and layout to produce the best balance of traction and stability.

CNC-machined from high-quality 2.5mm Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum, the lightweight chassis retains the necessary strength and rigidity, and is black coated at XRAY’s own in-house fully robotic coating line.

The chassis is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Side Guards.

Side guards integrate with the bent chassis and incorporate the adjustable battery holder system.

The tough composite side guards use double-sided Velcro™ tape to mount the body to the chassis and to seal against dirt.

The side guards are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Side Guard Braces.

Graphite side guard braces with redesigned shape make the front of the car more stable and more predictable. With the multiple mounting positions there are three flex settings available.

Soft setting – more aggressive front of the car

Medium setting – setting in between

Stiff setting - more precise handling of the car

The side guard braces are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Gear Box.

Super-narrow, ultra-low CG gear box (LCG) features quick & easy diff access. The narrower design of the gear box reduces weight and moves all parts closer to the chassis centerline.

Longer gear box – for front motor position - keeps more weight over the front axle for improved steering and corner speed on high grip surfaces. Included in the Carpet edition.

Shorter gear box – for rear motor position - improves traction on low grip surfaces by moving the weight of the motor and top shaft closer to the rear axle. Included in the Dirt edition.

Battery Holder.

Tweak-free fully adjustable battery holder is integrated into the side guards allowing easy and fast battery position adjustments, as well as simple battery installation through the smart quick-release system.

The battery pack can be easily moved front/rear to adjust the balance of the car. When the rear motor brace is removed, the battery pack can be moved completely rearward to maximize the rear weight bias and generate extra traction on the rear suspension.

The height of the battery backstop is also adjustable for different battery sizes.

The battery holder is mounted to the chassis through one connecting screw on each side brace to eliminate any negative effects on chassis flex.

The battery holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Diff Height Adjustment.

The gear box features differential height adjustment. There are 6 height adjustment positions available using the included eccentric bushings. The ideal position will vary depending on the track conditions, ride height and the size of the tires used.

Easy Diff Access.

Gear box features super easy access to the differential. Both gear boxes for Dirt and Carpet edition have the super easy diff access by removing only 6 screws.

Each gear box incorporates all the finest details and craftsmanship. All parts fit together perfectly, and the super-easy access to the rear differential will be appreciated by every racer. The durable gear box houses the differential with all the transmission components and serves as the mounting point for the rear roll center holder, motor plate, and rear shock tower.

Motor Mount Brace.

The redesigned motor mount brace ensures optimum flex via a pivot ball mount that ensures side flex for increased traction.

The design of the car also allows removal of the motor mount brace to increase flex and to move the battery pack further to the rear to position more weight over the rear axles for improved rear traction.

The motor mount brace is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Ball Differential.

The XB2 ball differential offers improved performance, durability, and easier maintenance. The externally adjustable ball differential is machined from HUDY Spring Steel™ and is additionally hardened for extra durability and a longer lifespan. A high-quality carbide thrust bearing and carbide balls are included for ultra-smooth operation. The outdrive adapters are designed for use with 2.5mm pin drive shafts.

The ball differential is suggested for all types of dirt tracks and for bumpy Astro tracks and is included in the Dirt edition only.

Gear Differential.

The gear differential has greater internal oil volume to increase consistency of the diff action, yet at the same time it is significantly narrower to fit into the LCG gear box and to move the rotating weight closer to the centerline.

The super-smooth gear diff includes a composite case and cover with internal satellite gears that are precision-molded from special XRAY-developed graphite composite material, ensuring a long lifespan and super-smooth, efficient operation.

The gear differential is suggested for medium to high traction conditions as it increases on-power steering that is beneficial on all carpet tracks.

The gear differential is included in the Carpet edition.

Slipper Clutch.

Power from the motor is transferred to the drivetrain via an externally adjustable slipper clutch for quick & easy tuning.

There are two different slipper clutch designs available:

2-pad slipper – increases slippage to generate smoother acceleration at low traction conditions, included in Dirt edition

3-pad slipper – less slippage to generate more consistent braking at high traction conditions, included in Carpet edition

The slipper pads are made from ultra-efficient SLS material with very-high slip efficiency, thus allowing very precise slip adjustment.

The lightweight slipper plates are machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 and additionally hardened before a final black surface treatment. The plates have a machined relief which decreases the friction surface to assist with clutch slip adjustment. With this plate design, pressure is focused on the circumference of the clutch pads for increased efficiency.

Motor Plate & Spur Gear Protector.

The super lightweight motor mount is machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and is a universal design that fits both Carpet and Dirt Edition gear boxes.

The molded composite gear protector prevents contact between the spur gear and the body. Moulded from strong, lightweight material, the cover helps to protect the body shell and spur gear, and it allows the body to be mounted lower without interference.

The motor plate is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Roll Center Holder.

Roll center holder fit the LCG gear box and features multiple roll center positions. The roll center holder also serves as the rear anti-roll bar mount.

An optional rear aluminum roll center holder features roll center positions in between the stock positions for additional tuning choices.

The roll center holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Drive Shafts.

Dirt and Carpet edition feature different length driveshafts to match the arm length, outdrive width and hub position of each version.

Manufactured from world-renowned HUDY Spring Steel™ the drive shafts feature 2.5mm drive pins for maximum drivetrain efficiency. The drive shafts are some of the thinnest yet most durable drive shafts used in electric off-road cars. Treated with a proprietary hardening process, the drive shafts provide unbeatable lifespan and reliability.

Rear Uprights.

Rear uprights feature aluminum roll center mounts with updated roll center position.

The upper roll center is adjusted at the camber linkage via shims (up/down & in/out), while the lower roll center is adjustable via eccentric inserts for 9 different positions (up/down & in/out).

The multi-function uprights have the upper roll center position in the middle of the axis of the driveshaft joint to help generate more traction and increase stability.

There are three different uprights available: hard (included), graphite (optional), and aluminum (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions.

Suspension Holders.

Narrower suspension holders move the inner pivot location closer to the vehicle center allowing for longer suspension arms and new suspension geometry. The narrower design increases rear traction.

The aluminum suspension holders feature Integrated Suspension Settings (I.S.S.™) which allows for quick & easy suspension geometry set-up.

Machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and black coated.

The suspension holders are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Rear Suspension Arms.

The rear suspension arms have different design specifically for the Dirt and Carpet editions. The longer suspension arms have geometry for improved consistency and handling.

Dirt edition – Special design of the art allows to move arm more frontwards that moves the weight into the rear of the car. The rear upright position in the arm is moved forward with an extensive range of wheelbase adjustment.

Carpet edition – supper narrow arms used from XB4 allows to move the arms more frontwards that moves the weight into the rear of the car.

There are two different rear suspension arm hardness alternatives available:  hard (included) and graphite (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions.

Front Suspension Arms.

Front suspension arms have a universal design for both Dirt and Carpet editions. The suspension arms have geometry for improved handling and the repositioned lower shock mount locations lower the shocks and shock tower to decrease the CG.

The design of the arm allows for a greater range of adjustments. The opening for the C-hub is larger for greater wheelbase adjustments possibilities compared to previous versions.

The shock mounting location is wider to allow use of the eccentric shock pivot ball to move the shock absorber between two different positions creating different shock angles that affect traction and corner speed.

The arm also features a mounting position for the optional front anti-roll bar.

There are two different front suspension arm hardness alternatives available:  hard (included) and graphite (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions.

The front arms are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Shocks.

The XB2 shock absorbers feature eccentric lower mounting pivot ball that changes the angle of the shocks when mounted in the arm. The angle of the shocks affects the traction the car will create and the way the car jumps and lands. Reversing the orientation of the lower pivot ball with alter the angle of the shocks for another tuning adjustment.

The SLP (Super Low Profile) shock absorbers offer superior performance, especially for high-traction conditions where together with the SLP shock towers there is reduced chassis roll, thus allowing the use of more droop for better landings.

The shocks are membrane-free while still allowing for an easy and consistent build with rebound adjustment using a bleed-screw shock cap design.

Shock extension is limited using composite shims under the pistons. Maximum compression is limited using composite shims under the shock collar.

The shock absorbers are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Shock Springs.

The shorter shock springs expand the range of ride height adjustments. The wide range of optional shock springs are available for super fine adjustment.

The SLP shock springs are specifically designed to fit the SLP shock absorbers however all the previously available shock springs will fit as well, providing a large range of tuning choices.

The XB2 springs, like all other XRAY springs, are manually measured, selected, and matched into pairs to guarantee precisely equal length and damping characteristics.

Each spring is laser-engraved with stripes to clearly indicate its firmness.

Chassis Brace.

The front lower chassis brace is part of the Multi-Flex™ system that influences flex and handling. There are two different chassis braces available – medium (optional) and hard (included), each suitable for particular track conditions.  The brace is mounted directly to the chassis to hold the entire front assembly and front suspension, including the front protection bumper.

An optional medium-hardness composite molded brace is suitable for low- and medium-traction tracks.

The included brace is moulded from hard-hardness composite and is suitable for high- and very-high-traction tracks.

Multiple Servo Position.

To allow for more precise weight balance adjustment, the servo position is adjustable either more rearwards or frontwards; there are 3 positions to choose from.

When the servo is moved rearwards, there is more weight on the rear and less weight on the front. This results in less diving into a corner, while increasing rear traction. Recommended for low- and medium-traction conditions.

When the servo is moved more frontwards, there is more weight on the front and less weight at the rear. This increases the diving effect but reduces rear traction. Recommended for high- and very-high traction conditions.

Arm Mount.

The lower composite arm mount is an important part of the chassis where the lower arms mount, and the block has an integrated 26° kick-up angle. Optional aluminum and brass arm mounts are available for further weight balance adjustment.

Suspension.

Correct suspension geometry is one of the most important features of any RC model car, while at the same time being one of the most difficult & challenging features for a designer.

Suspension is always a mixture of:

● design and shape of individual suspension parts
● flex and hardness
● materials used
● mounting system
● geometry and position of mounting points of connecting parts

From the suspension arms, through the suspension blocks, to the light yet robust steering blocks, every suspension part has been carefully designed for the 2WD 1/10 off-road racing platform to provide responsive racing characteristics in all conditions.

Caster Blocks.

The caster blocks are very lightweight, yet their construction makes them very stiff & rigid. The caster can be adjusted with values 0°, 2.5° or 5° by using included caster bushings.

There are three different caster blocks available – medium (option), hard (included) and graphite (option) – which are suitable for various track conditions.

Drivetrain.

The XB2 is a conventional gear-driven 2WD off-road car featuring:

● Rear Ball Differential (Dirt Edition) or Gear Differential (Carpet Edition) with adjustable oil viscosity, featuring 53T gear and internal satellite gears

● 25T (Dirt Edition) or 38T (Carpet Edition) graphite composite idle gear

● 20T super-lightweight Swiss 7075 T6 hardcoated aluminum top shaft

● adjustable slipper clutch with 78T main spur gear

● rear CVD drive shafts

Spur Gear.

Precision-molded spur gears are made from XRAY's exclusive secret blend of composite material, allowing the gear to run true yet be robust enough to handle high-performance brushless motors. The spur gears are designed to have the lowest possible weight while staying strong and light. Each gear is stamped with the tooth number for easy identification.

The XB2 is equipped with an 81T spur gear which suits the majority of tracks. For additional tuning, optional 75T, 78T, and 84T spur gears are available.

Turnbuckles.

For maximum reliability, all turnbuckles are manufactured from special HUDY Spring Steel™ material for turnbuckles which features a tougher core. These turnbuckles are used for front & rear upright linkages and steering system.

Shock Pistons.

Shock pistons are made from Delrin® and are molded using ultra-high precision moulds. All-new 2-hole pistons (1.6mm and 1.7mm holes) are now included in the set.

Wheelbase & Weight Balance Adjustment.

Outer suspension pins holding the front caster block and rear uprights feature wheelbase shims for quick & easy wheelbase and weight balance adjustment. Using included shims in rear and in front, both front and rear blocks can be moved forward or rearward to adjust weight balance depending on track condition.

By moving the arms to the front, the balance & weight of the car are transferred more to the rear; this is recommended for medium- and high-traction conditions. By moving the arms to the rear, the balance & weight of the car are transferred more to the front.

Chassis Balance.

Chassis design focuses on balanced weight distribution and weight transfer. The chassis features pre-drilled holes for additional weights for optimum car balancing.
